Paper whitened, ink darkened, cropped to the ink, then sized and compressed to the form's numbers and checked against them.

What this does

Compress signature to 20 KB for a form: the desk cleans the paper, darkens the ink, crops to the signature, fits it into 140 × 60 pixels, writes a 200 DPI JPEG and checks it against the bank preset. The honest limit: a clean signature at 140 × 60 is usually under the 10 KB minimum, so it is enlarged in the same shape rather than padded.

When to use this, and when not

  • Use it for a signature photographed or scanned on paper.
  • For the photo that goes with it, use compress photo for exam form; it takes a photo and a signature together.
  • A signature drawn on a screen with a transparent background is better saved as it is; this page writes JPEG on white.

Honest limits

  • No background removal to transparent PNG: portals ask for JPEG.
  • Shadows across the paper may survive the clean-up as grey; photograph it in even light.
  • The crop looks for dark strokes; a ruled line or a printed box near the signature is kept as ink.
  • Your browser's JPEG encoder chooses its own colour subsampling; this build does not offer 4:4:4.

Step by step

  1. Sign on white paper. Sign with a dark pen on plain white paper and photograph or scan it in good light.
  2. Choose the photo. Press Choose photos and pick it. The preview shows the cleaned, cropped signature at the form's size.
  3. Check the preset. The bank signature preset is set. Pick SSC, PAN or NEET under Form preset in the Recipe panel if that is your form.
  4. Download. Press Download. The file is signature.jpg, with its PASS or FAIL line against the preset beside it.

Questions

What size should a signature be?
Bank recruitment forms ask for 140 × 60 pixels and 10–20 KB, which is where this page starts. SSC gives 10–20 KB, PAN up to 50 KB at 200 DPI, NEET 4–30 KB. Choose the right one under Form preset in the Recipe panel; each shows its source and the date it was checked.
What does the clean-up do?
It measures the paper's brightness and the ink's from the photo itself, then pushes the paper to white and stretches the ink towards black (levels, not a filter), writes it in greyscale and crops to the ink with a small margin. The row says it was done and how much of the photo was kept.
Why is my signature larger than 140 × 60?
Because at 140 × 60 pixels a clean signature on white is very little information: most come out at 3–8 KB even at the highest quality, under the 10 KB minimum. The bank notice gives 140 × 60 as the preferred size, so the signature is enlarged in the same shape (up to 420 pixels wide) until it reaches 10 KB, and the check line says the size it ended at. Nothing is padded. If it still cannot reach the minimum, the line says FAIL with its real size.
Why JPEG and not PNG?
Because the portals ask for JPG or JPEG. Every output here is a JPEG at 200 DPI, saved as signature.jpg.
Is my signature uploaded?
No. The clean-up, the crop and every encode run in this tab, and nothing is sent anywhere.
